About this product

KitKat is the chocolate-covered wafer bar created by Rowntree's of York in 1935 and owned by Nestlé since it bought Rowntree's in 1988; Nestlé makes it everywhere except the United States, where Hershey holds a licence.[2] This EAN-8 belongs to the 45 g four-finger bar sold in the United Kingdom and Ireland: the wrapper carries the FAIRTRADE Mark, a Nestlé Cocoa Plan block and a "Suitable for Vegetarians" mark, and gives Nestlé UK, PO Box 203, York as the address for questions, with separate UK and ROI freephone numbers.[3][1] Four-finger KitKat has carried Fairtrade-certified cocoa in Britain and Ireland since January 2010, a relationship Nestlé ended in 2020 in favour of Rainforest Alliance sourcing.[2] The old Barcodepedia already held this number as a four-finger bar in 2008.[4] UK retail now sells the four-finger bar at 41.5 g, and the case listings of the 45 g article are unavailable, so it is recorded as discontinued.[5][6]
