About this product

Extra is the Wrigley Company's sugarfree chewing gum line, launched in the United States in 1984 and marketed in Australia and New Zealand by 2001.[2] This is the Australasian peppermint pack: fourteen pieces, 27 g, made in Australia by The Wrigley Company Pty. Ltd. of Asquith, New South Wales, and made for The Wrigley Co. (NZ) Ltd. of Penrose, Auckland.[1] The gum is bulked with sorbitol and mannitol and sweetened with aspartame, and the back panel carries the Australian Dental Association's endorsement of sugarfree gum, the New Zealand Dental Association's approval mark and the phenylalanine warning.[3] Wrigley has been a subsidiary of Mars, Incorporated since 2008.[4]

More about this product

The barcode is an eight-digit EAN-8, 93613910. It is one of the numbers people still look up here: the 2006-2013 Barcodepedia carried an entry for it, and that entry's 2007 ingredient list names two sweeteners (951, 950) and two antioxidants (321, 320) where the pack photographed in 2015 names one of each.[5] Code numbers are resolved through the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code schedule of additive names.[6]

Coverage & research gaps (11)

Coverage measures the evidence recorded here. It does not rate the product.

  • Identity: 3 / 3 · Name, brand and classification recorded
  • Context: 2 / 3 · Evidence groups assigned to a researched label, edition or analysis
  • Label photographs: 0 / 2 · Researched contexts with an assigned photograph
  • English label of the 27 g 14-piece pack: nutrient evidence: 17 / 17 · Recorded nutrient rows linked to a source; not the number of nutrients that ought to exist
  • nutrition · schema_gap: The panel declares three polyols the schema has no nutrient key for: sorbitol 48 g, mannitol 7 g and glycerol 10 g per 100 g (0.9 g, 0.1 g and 0.2 g per 1.9 g serving)
  • markets · stale: Woolworths Australia listed an "Extra Peppermint Sugar Free Chewing Gum 14pc 27g" in September 2026, but the listing prints no barcode and the site refuses retrieval (HTTP 403), so it is unconfirmed whether this GTIN is still the article on the shelf; the label read here is the pack photographed in 2015
  • ingredients · disputed: Whether the 2007 list (sweeteners 951 and 950, antioxidants 321 and 320) is an earlier revision of this article or a contributor's error is not established; no dated label between 2007 and 2015 was found
  • identity · unknown: No public source names the holder of the EAN-8 number 93613910; GS1 Australia issues the 93 range and the pack names The Wrigley Company Pty. Ltd. as the Australian maker, so the prefix owner is recorded as derived
  • markets · unknown: A United Arab Emirates halal-lookup app carries this barcode under the same product name and net content, but it is not a retailer listing, so no sale in the UAE is recorded here
  • evidence · stale: Evidence was observed over a year ago; check for newer labels. Historical evidence remains valid.
