About

Extra is the Wrigley Company's line of sugarfree chewing gum, launched in the United States in 1984 and popular within five years; it was the first sugarfree gum not sweetened with saccharin, using aspartame instead.[1] By 2001 it was marketed in the United States, Canada, Germany, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia and New Zealand, and it had been sold in Great Britain since 1990.[1] The Australian and New Zealand packs carry the Australian Dental Association's endorsement of chewing sugarfree gum and the New Zealand Dental Association's approval mark.[2]
