About this product
Desperados Original is an agave-spirit flavoured pale lager sold in Poland in a 400 ml non-returnable glass bottle and brewed under licence in Żywiec by Grupa Żywiec, which the pack also names as the responsible food business operator.[2][3] The Desperados name was created in France in 1995 and within the Heineken group is held by Heineken Brouwerijen B.V. of Amsterdam, printed on Polish packs as "HBBV trading under the name of Desperados".[4][2][5] The bottle photographed in 2022 still read "PIWO – BEER FLAVOURED WITH TEQUILA" at alk. 6,0% obj.,[6] while the list Polish retailers and the brewer publish today declares a natural flavouring containing 0,1 % agave alcohol.[3]

Wikipedia records that the recipe was reformulated away from tequila to an agave spirit, raising the strength to 5.9 % ABV.[4] The evidence for this barcode is split on that number: the brewer's line page gives 5,9 % obj. while the photographed label and Frisco.pl's listing of this GTIN both say 6 %, and the two camps also print different energy and carbohydrate figures, so both panels are kept here with their sources.[2][1] The barcode has been looked up since the 2006-2013 Barcodepedia, whose capture of 1 December 2008 filed it under the slug "piwo-desperados-400ml" with no researched content.[7]
