About this product
Galaxy Smooth Milk 110 g is the standard bar of Galaxy milk chocolate, the Mars brand first made in the United Kingdom in 1960.[2] Its wrappers are printed for Great Britain, Ireland and Malta, naming Mars Foods Ireland and the Maltese distributor Francis Busuttil & Sons (Marketing) as importers,[3][1] and the bar is moulded in pieces, six to 22 g.[1] Mars buys its cocoa from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms, according to the wrapper.[4] In September 2023 Mars confirmed that it had reduced the Smooth Milk bar from 110 g to 100 g; the 110 g bar had sold for 99p in some supermarkets that summer.[5]
The recipe changed with the 2021 redesign. The 2018 and 2020 wrappers list sugar, cocoa butter, skimmed milk powder, cocoa mass, milk fat, lactose and protein from whey, whey powder, palm fat, soya lecithin and natural vanilla extract; the 2021 wrapper moves skimmed milk powder to second place, replaces the whey ingredients with lactose and whey permeate and prints plain vanilla extract, and its protein rises from 6.8 g to 7.2 g per 100 g.[4][1] The 2018 wrapper names Mars Chocolate UK Ltd of Slough as the British company, and the 2020 wrapper its later name, Mars Wrigley Confectionery UK.[3][4]
