Sony BMG Music Entertainment was an American record company owned as a 50–50 joint venture of Sony Corporation of America and Bertelsmann, formed by the merger of Sony Music Entertainment and Bertelsmann Music Group completed in August 2004. It was one of the Big Four music companies, and its labels included Arista, Columbia, Epic, Jive, RCA and Legacy Recordings.[1] After Sony bought Bertelsmann's half in 2008, the company took back the name Sony Music Entertainment on 1 January 2009; its address was 550 Madison Avenue, New York.[2]
