About this product

This is the US compact disc of Unwritten, the debut album of English singer-songwriter Natasha Bedingfield, released by Epic Records on 2 August 2005, nearly a year after its 2004 UK release on Phonogenic.[2] Discogs lists it as catalogue number EK 93988, a copy-protected album of 13 tracks with a hidden track, credited ℗ BMG UK & Ireland and © Sony BMG Music Entertainment and glass-mastered at DADC.[1] In November 2005 the Electronic Frontier Foundation confirmed that this title carried XCP, the First 4 Internet copy-protection software whose rootkit behaviour set off the Sony BMG scandal.[3] Sony BMG recalled unsold XCP discs and offered to exchange them for unprotected copies.[4]

More about this product

The old Barcodepedia page, captured in March 2007, titled this barcode "Unwritten [SONY XCP CONTENT/COPY-PROTECTED CD]".[5] A June 2006 US reissue under barcode 828767751528 changed the running order, swapped in two remixes and used different cover art.[6]

Where it's sold

🇺🇸 United States

Discogs release 2613098[1] sourced

Discogs gives release country US for this barcode; the EFF (a US organisation) confirmed XCP on the Epic title in November 2005 (^eff). Current US listings are second-hand resale on eBay, which the server cannot fetch, so no price or date is recorded

A listing is evidence that this barcode is sold there, on that date; a price is what that listing showed, not a recommended price.

Coverage & research gaps (7)

Coverage measures the evidence recorded here. It does not rate the product.

  • Identity: 3 / 3 · Name, brand and classification recorded
  • Release details: 5 / 5 · Profile fields recorded: artists, label, media, released, catalogue_number. Missing fields may require research or an applicability note.
  • tracks evidence: 14 / 14 · Recorded rows linked to source evidence; does not measure whether the list is complete
  • Context: 1 / 1 · Evidence groups assigned to a researched label, edition or analysis
  • Label photographs: 0 / 1 · Researched contexts with an assigned photograph
  • Specifications: 0 / 2 · Recorded specifications mapped to comparable property keys
  • images · unknown: No licensed photo of this pack was found; Discogs images carry no reuse licence
  • identity · not_researched: MusicBrainz answered HTTP 503 throughout; its search result for the album is the 2006 reissue (barcode 828767751528), so whether it holds this barcode is unchecked
  • markets · unknown: No dated retail listing with a price could be fetched (eBay, Amazon.com and Walmart refuse the server); no dated evidence for last_seen
  • packaging · not_researched: Pack format and printed XCP notice not read from a photo; EFF says XCP discs mention XCP on the back and "CONTENT PROTECTED" on the spine
  • evidence · unknown: Evidence observation date is not recorded.
  • images · not_researched: No product photographs recorded.
  • schema · schema_gap: Some specifications retain source labels without comparable property keys.
