What the sources say about these ties
Lucozade Ribena Suntory owns
Suntory's British company for the two brands; the brand's own site names Lucozade Ribena Suntory Limited as the proprietor of the LUCOZADE marks.

Built from the ownership rows on the brand and company pages, each cited where it is recorded. Made in is the country of production on this product's record; the GS1 prefix of a barcode names the issuing organisation, not where the product was made.

About this product

Lucozade Energy Original 380 ml is an export bottle of the original Lucozade Energy, a sparkling glucose drink labelled "Born in the UK. Export quality" and made by Lucozade Ribena Suntory at the Royal Forest Factory in Coleford, Gloucestershire.[2] Its barcode is in the GS1 Kenya range, and a Ghanaian grocer, BarGains Center, sold it under that barcode for GH₵ 5.85 in April 2026.[1] The photographed label lists carbonated water, 13% glucose syrup, citric and lactic acids, 0.012% caffeine, the sweeteners aspartame and acesulfame K and the colours sunset yellow and Ponceau 4R, with 37 kcal and 4.5 g of sugars per 100 ml.[2]

Lucozade is a British brand that GlaxoSmithKline sold to the Japanese drinks group Suntory in September 2013, and it has been sold in markets in Africa, Asia and Australasia.[3] The aspartame and acesulfame K sweetening matches the 2017 recipe that cut sugar to 22.5 g per 500 ml; a 2023 reformulation kept that sugar level and moved to sucralose and acesulfame K.[3]

Coverage & research gaps (8)

Coverage measures the evidence recorded here. It does not rate the product.

  • Identity: 3 / 3 · Name, brand and classification recorded
  • Context: 1 / 2 · Evidence groups assigned to a researched label, edition or analysis
  • Label photographs: 0 / 1 · Researched contexts with an assigned photograph
  • Front and back of the bottle, Open Food Facts photographs of 2019-11-02: nutrient evidence: 8 / 8 · Recorded nutrient rows linked to a source; not the number of nutrients that ought to exist
  • relationships · unknown: The barcode sits in the GS1 Kenya range (616); Open Food Facts packs under 6164003 carry unrelated brands (Winnaz crisps, Ribena, moringa products, Titan Roasters coffee, Dilsy mandazi; 27 hits read on 2026-09-26), which points to a shared or reseller block rather than the maker's own prefix, so no prefix owner is recorded.
  • relationships · unknown: The importer or distributor for Ghana is not named in the photographs; the French-language panel on the back is cut off by the frame.
  • ingredients · stale: The photographed list uses aspartame and acesulfame K, the sweeteners of the 2017 recipe; Wikipedia gives sucralose and acesulfame K for the 2023 reformulation, and whether this export barcode now carries that recipe is open.
  • images · unknown: The only photographs are the 2019 Open Food Facts set; no later picture of this export bottle is available.
  • evidence · stale: Evidence was observed over a year ago; check for newer labels. Historical evidence remains valid.
  • schema · schema_gap: Review and assign legacy facts to coherent observations.
  • ingredients · not_researched: Ingredient statement or sourced exemption not recorded.
  • nutrition · not_researched: Nutrition declaration or exemption not recorded.
