Heinz Baked Beanz is the Heinz Beanz range's haricot beans in a rich tomato sauce, sold in Britain in a 150 g single-serve steel can.[1] The front carries the Heinz Beanz masterbrand, the line "Baked beans in a deliciously rich tomato sauce" and a "1 of your 5 a day" flash.[2] It is made in England for H.J. Heinz Foods UK Ltd, London SE1 9SG,[2] and the Heinz brand belongs to The Kraft Heinz Company.[3] Heinz markets the beans as gluten free, high in fibre and protein, low in fat, suitable for vegetarians and vegans, and free from artificial colours, flavours and preservatives.[1] The tin is 49 % beans in a sauce built on 35 % tomatoes.[1]
The 150 g tin is the smallest of the standard Heinz Beanz sizes, which also include 200 g, 300 g and the classic 415 g.[1] Heinz Baked Beans were first sold in Britain in 1886 and have been produced in England for decades, latterly at the Kitt Green factory near Wigan.[3] The UK packs were renamed "Heinz Baked Beanz" in 2004 and then simply "Heinz Beanz" in 2008, while the product is still sold as Heinz Baked Beans in many export markets.[3]
