Heinz Beanz is the Heinz line of haricot beans in tomato sauce, sold as Heinz Baked Beans outside the United Kingdom.[1] Heinz first sold the beans in Britain at Fortnum & Mason in 1886, opened its first British factory in Peckham in 1905 and moved bean production to Kitt Green near Wigan in 1958, a plant that by 2012 was one of the largest food factories in Europe.[1] The line was renamed Heinz Baked Beanz in 2004 and Heinz Beanz in 2008, when the company dropped "Baked" because the older name was "a bit of a mouthful to pronounce".[1] Its 1967 slogan "Beanz Meanz Heinz" became one of the best known advertising lines in Britain.[1] The beans are cooked inside the sealed can in large pressure cookers, and a standard 415 g tin holds an average of 465 beans.[1]
