Mountain Dew Pitch Black II was a sour black grape version of PepsiCo's Mountain Dew, sold in the United States as a ten-week limited-time offer running from late August 2005 until November.[1] Pepsi-Cola North America announced it on 24 August 2005 as a sequel to the previous year's Pitch Black, adding what the company called a sour bite under the line "The black is back with a sour bite", and shipped it nationwide in 20-ounce bottles, two-litre bottles and 12-packs of 12-ounce cans.[1] This barcode is the 20 fl oz bottle.[2] Its declared ingredients were carbonated water and high-fructose corn syrup with caffeine, brominated vegetable oil and the colours Red 40 and Blue 1.[3]

Unlike the 2004 original, which was re-released repeatedly and joined the core line-up after winning PepsiCo's 2016 DEWcision contest, Pitch Black II never returned in any form.[4] Open Food Facts holds the same USDA-derived record for this barcode and carries no photograph of the pack, so the printed panel has not been read here.[5]
