Deutsche Grammophon GmbH is the Berlin record company behind the Deutsche Grammophon label, registered at the Amtsgericht Charlottenburg under HRB 138012 B with its postal address at Mühlenstraße 25, 10243 Berlin; its imprint calls it a Universal Music company.[1] Founded in 1898 by Emile Berliner as the German branch of his Berliner Gramophone Company, it was owned by Siemens & Halske from 1941, became part of PolyGram and passed to Universal Music Group in 1998.[2]
