About this product

A single-CD reissue on the Westminster label of Hermann Scherchen's 1958 stereo recordings of Beethoven's Symphony No. 3 in E flat, Op. 55 "Eroica", and Symphony No. 6 in F, Op. 68 "Pastorale", with the Vienna State Opera Orchestra.[2] Both were recorded in the Mozartsaal of the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Eroica in May and the Pastorale in July 1958, and remastered with Original-Image Bit-Processing for Deutsche Grammophon's 2001 "Westminster The Legacy" series; the US discs were made by UML for Universal Classics Group.[1] The same barcode appears on a European pressing,[3] and Deutsche Grammophon still lists the album under this UPC.[4]

More about this product

Scherchen's Westminster recordings included Beethoven among much else.[5] The Westminster catalogue passed to MCA in 1979 and is now managed by Deutsche Grammophon.[6] The old Barcodepedia listed this barcode in 2007 as "Scherchen Hermann / VSO – Symphonies Nos. 3 & 6", from upcdatabase.com.[7]

Coverage & research gaps (8)

Coverage measures the evidence recorded here. It does not rate the product.

  • Identity: 3 / 3 · Name, brand and classification recorded
  • Release details: 5 / 5 · Profile fields recorded: artists, label, media, released, catalogue_number. Missing fields may require research or an applicability note.
  • tracks evidence: 9 / 9 · Recorded rows linked to source evidence; does not measure whether the list is complete
  • Context: 2 / 3 · Evidence groups assigned to a researched label, edition or analysis
  • Label photographs: 0 / 2 · Researched contexts with an assigned photograph
  • Specifications: 0 / 12 · Recorded specifications mapped to comparable property keys
  • identity · disputed: Release date: Discogs and MusicBrainz give 2001 (© 2001 on the inlay); the Deutsche Grammophon catalogue page shows 15 October 2009, probably its digital date. The Release field keeps the year.
  • identity · unknown: Discogs lists a US club edition with the same catalogue number made for BMG Direct under licence; it carries club number D 141374 and no UPC is transcribed, so it is not treated as this article.
  • identity · unknown: country_of_origin is left blank: one barcode covers a US pressing (made in USA by UML) and a European one ("Made in the E. U."); which a given copy is depends on the pressing.
  • relationships · unknown: No source names the licensee of GS1 company prefix 0028947; no gs1_prefix_owner edge is recorded.
  • relationships · unknown: The pressing plant and distributor of the European pressing are not transcribed on Discogs.
  • markets · stale: Market evidence is the catalogue entries for the 2001 pressings; no retailer listing printing this barcode could be fetched (Amazon.com and Amazon.ca ASIN B00005OLDP answered HTTP 500 to the server, Presto Music 403).
  • schema · schema_gap: Review and assign legacy facts to coherent observations.
  • schema · schema_gap: Some specifications retain source labels without comparable property keys.
