About CFP Brands
CFP Brands is the German marketing and sales company for a group of confectionery brands, working for the German market alone.[1] It is a joint venture of three owner-managed companies: Perfetti Van Melle of Amsterdam, maker of Mentos, Chupa Chups and Smint; Lofthouse of Fleetwood, maker of Fisherman's Friend; and Ricola of Laufen, which joined as an equal partner in 2019.[2] Its range includes Fisherman's Friend, Mentos, Ricola, Chupa Chups, Center Shock, Smint and Lakritz Toffee.[1] German trade data sheets name it as the operator responsible for Fisherman's Friend packs.[3]
The business goes back to the German sales companies of Van Melle (Mentos, 1954) and Chupa Chups (1981), which merged in 2000 into Chupa Chups Van Melle Süßwarenhandels GmbH & Co. KG; Perfetti took over Van Melle in full in 2001.[2] In 2005 Chupa Chups, Lofthouse and Perfetti Van Melle formed the joint venture CFP, its letters standing for Chupa Chups, Fisherman's Friend and Perfetti Van Melle.[1] Perfetti Van Melle bought Chupa Chups in 2006, taking a larger share of the venture.[1] The partnership, registered at Amtsgericht Düsseldorf under HRA 26431, carries the earlier Chupa Chups van Melle name in the register and was previously entered at Amtsgericht Bonn under HRA 4602.[4] It moved its seat from Bonn to the Medienhafen in Düsseldorf in 2020 and has CFP Brands Verwaltungs GmbH (HRB 102261) as managing partner, with Fabian Röcke as managing director.[2][5]
