About this product

This is the US compact disc of The Dead 60s, the self-titled debut album of the Liverpool ska punk band The Dead 60s, released by Epic on 31 May 2005, four months before its UK release on Deltasonic.[3][4] Discogs lists it as catalogue number EK 94453, a copy-protected album of 13 tracks credited ℗ and © 2005 Deltasonic Records 2002 Ltd., with Sony BMG Music Entertainment as record company.[5] In November 2005 the Electronic Frontier Foundation confirmed that the Epic edition carried XCP,[6] the First 4 Internet copy-protection software whose rootkit behaviour set off the Sony BMG scandal.[7] The disc was withdrawn, and a version without XCP was issued on 22 November 2005.[3]

More about this product

The old Barcodepedia page, captured in March 2007, titled this barcode "The Dead 60s [SONY XCP CONTENT/COPY-PROTECTED CD]".[8] The same barcode appears on a Canadian copy-protected pressing distributed by Sony BMG Music (Canada) Inc.[2] The replacement US disc, Deltasonic 82876 77675 2 under barcode 828767767529, is described by Discogs as the reissue with the copy protection software removed.[9]
