About this product
Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is the 2004 US two-CD edition of John Williams's score for the 1980 film, issued on the Sony Classical label under catalogue number S2K 92951 with a lenticular cover.[1] Sony Classical acquired the rights to the original trilogy scores in 2004 and re-pressed RCA Victor's 1997 Special Edition set with new artwork mirroring the film's first DVD release, so the music is essentially the 1997 programme, digitally remastered.[2] The score was recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Special Edition presents it complete and in film order.[2] The 23 tracks open with Alfred Newman's 20th Century Fox Fanfare; Williams is credited as composer, conductor and producer with Nick Redman.[1]
