About this product

Qualità Oro is the oldest Lavazza blend, created in 1956: a medium-roast 100% Arabica coffee from Central and South America, ground for moka pot and filter, which the tin itself rates aromatic at intensity 5 out of 10.[3][4] This 250 g gold tin is the multilingual export pack rather than the Italian domestic one. Its base label prints the same declaration in a dozen languages, each introduced by a country badge, and the Albanian block also names the authorised distributors for Albania and for Kosovo.[1] The English block gives the legal denomination, "Packaged in a protective atmosphere", "Made in Italy" and "Origin of coffee: non-EU", the normal position for a roaster importing green beans.[5] Luigi Lavazza S.p.A. of Via Bologna 32, Turin, is printed on the tin and named as the food business operator on Lavazza's own listing.[1][3]

More about this product

Over that base label a Hong Kong importer's sticker is applied, and this review separates the two. The sticker names Dah Chong Hong of Kowloon Bay, gives a Hong Kong hotline and a bilingual best-before line, and carries the only nutrition table on the pack, headed "Per 100g of Powder" and written in Hong Kong format with energy in kilocalories only and sodium in milligrams.[1] The base label has no table at all, which is what the law allows: milled coffee beans are exempt from the mandatory nutrition declaration.[6] The previous version of this entry merged the sticker's figures into a single nutrition block without recording that exemption, so a reader could not tell which surface the numbers came from.

The countries listed here are now the ones the pack itself names, badge by badge, together with a Polish retailer that prints this barcode.[1][2] Open Food Facts additionally tags Belarus, Germany and Ukraine; nothing on the tin or in any listing supports those, so they are left out.[7] One disagreement is recorded rather than resolved: lavazza.it rates this same tin 8 out of 10 for intensity and describes six Arabicas, where the tin and the English site say 5 out of 10.[8]

Coverage & research gaps (7)

Coverage measures the evidence recorded here. It does not rate the product.

  • Identity: 3 / 3 · Name, brand and classification recorded
  • Context: 2 / 2 · Evidence groups assigned to a researched label, edition or analysis
  • Label photographs: 2 / 2 · Researched contexts with an assigned photograph
  • Hong Kong importer's overlay sticker: nutrient evidence: 11 / 11 · Recorded nutrient rows linked to a source; not the number of nutrients that ought to exist
  • markets · unknown: Open Food Facts tags Belarus, Germany and Ukraine for this barcode. No badge on the pack and no listing supports them, so they are not recorded; the pack's own badges and the Polish listing are used instead
  • identity · disputed: The tin front prints "INTENSITY 5/10" and lavazza.com rates the blend 5/10, while lavazza.it rates the same 250 g tin 8/10 and describes six Arabicas rather than Central and South American origins generally
  • relationships · unknown: The Kosovo distributor Oniks SHPK has no market cell because Kosovo has no ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code available in this schema; the territory is named only in the relation note
  • nutrition · unknown: No nutrition table is visible on any photographed surface of the base label. That is consistent with the Annex V exemption for milled coffee, but the tin has not been photographed all the way round
  • evidence · stale: Every photograph of this tin predates 2023 and Lavazza's own shops currently show the 250 g ground Oro as unavailable, so the pack design on sale today may differ
  • evidence · stale: Evidence was observed over a year ago; check for newer labels. Historical evidence remains valid.
