About this product
Porto Messias 10 Anos is a ten-year-old tawny Port, bottled at 750 ml and 20 % vol by Caves Messias, the Mealhada house that trades as Sociedade Agrícola e Comercial dos Vinhos Messias, S.A.[3][4] A blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinto Cão, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca from the demarcated Douro is fermented, stopped with wine spirit and matured in cask for about ten years before bottling.[3] The dark bottle carries no paper front label: PORTO, 10 ANOS, MESSIAS and ENVELHECIDO EM CASCO are screen-printed on the glass beneath the IVDP guarantee seal.[5] Roger Voss gave it 91 points in Wine Enthusiast.[3]

The firm was founded in 1926 by Messias Baptista and is still run by the family, ageing its Douro wine in lodges at Vila Nova de Gaia.[2] This barcode has identified the wine since at least 2008, when the first Barcodepedia recorded it.[6] Portugal Vineyards sells the article in Portugal and reproduces its label declaration; the Spanish importer Family Owned Wineries lists it with the barcode in its EAN field.[1][2]
