About this product
Mezmerize is the fourth studio album by American heavy metal band System of a Down, released on 17 May 2005 by American Recordings and Columbia Records.[2] This barcode is the limited-edition UK picture-disc LP, catalogue number COL 519000 1, issued on Columbia in 2005; Discogs lists it as a one-disc picture disc in a regular LP jacket with a thin-card lyric inner sleeve.[1] Its eleven tracks, opening with "Soldier Side (intro)" and "B.Y.O.B.", were produced by Daron Malakian and Rick Rubin and mixed by Andy Wallace.[2][3] The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 with 453,000 copies and was later certified double platinum.[2]
The picture disc was pressed by GZ Digital Media (plant code 61235E), with runout groups that are part laser-etched and part hand-etched.[1] Its phonographic-copyright line reads "℗ 2005 Columbia Records, a division of Sony Music Entertainment. With American Recordings, LLC", Columbia being Sony Music Entertainment's imprint.[1] The album's artwork is by Vartan Malakian, father of guitarist Daron Malakian, and Mezmerize forms a two-part release with Hypnotize, issued later in 2005.[2] Discogs and MusicBrainz record parallel CD, cassette and picture-disc editions across the Americas, Europe, Russia, Japan and Australia under other catalogue numbers.[3][1]
