About this product
Fisherman's Friend Salmiak ohne Zucker is the German pack of the sugar-free salmiak and menthol pastille, a 25 g flow-wrap bag holding about 20 pastilles and sold as "extra frische Menthol-Pastillen mit Süßungsmittel".[2] The back warns that this is adult liquorice, that consumption should stay under 10 g a day, that liquorice is unsuitable for people with high blood pressure and that the sorbitol can be laxative in excess.[3] The lozenges come from Lofthouse of Fleetwood, the Lancashire family firm founded by the chemist James Lofthouse in 1865.[4] CFP Brands of Düsseldorf, the joint venture of Perfetti Van Melle, Ricola and the British distributor Impex Management, markets the brand for the German market alone.[5] Shop Apotheke lists the article under EAN 50357321 with pharmacy number 02433855, and Amazon.de prints the same barcode in the product details of its own listing.[6][1]
The ingredient statement has been rewritten between label generations: the bag photographed in 2019 and 2021 grouped liquorice juice powder, menthol, ammonium glycyrrhizinate and peppermint oil under "Aromen", while the one photographed in February 2025 names liquorice juice powder and ammonium chloride on their own and puts "Aromen" last; both revisions are kept here, and Amazon.de reproduced the 2025 wording unchanged in September 2026.[3][7][1] The printed panel of 1007 kJ / 241 kcal per 100 g is unchanged in the 2026 retailer sheets, and the front of the bag carries a small badge giving 12 kJ / 3 kcal for one pastille, the same figures the maker publishes.[2][8][9] The 2006-2013 Barcodepedia held this barcode as "Fishermans Friend Salmiak O.z. Pastillen"; the line calling it produced in the United Kingdom by an unknown producer was generated from the barcode, not read from a pack.[10]
