About this product

Mountain Dew 330 ml is the German single-use can of PepsiCo's citrus soft drink, labelled in German only as a koffeinhaltiges Erfrischungsgetränk and placed on the market by PepsiCo Deutschland GmbH of Neu-Isenburg, which is the only company the can names.[1] The can photographed in 2021 lists water, sugar, carbon dioxide, citric acid, ascorbic acid, flavouring, potassium sorbate, caffeine declared as a flavouring, gum arabic (E414), modified starch and beta-carotene.[2] It declares 209 kJ (50 kcal) and 12.2 g of sugars per 100 ml, and 162 kcal and 40.4 g of sugars for the whole can, 45 % of the reference intake for sugars.[3] The back carries the German deposit mark with "Einwegpfand € 0,25".[1]

The German recipe differs from the Polish-filled Central European can, which is sweetened with fructose-glucose syrup and coloured with carotenes.[4] German Wikipedia describes classic Mountain Dew in 330 ml cans and 0.5 litre PET bottles as part of the range of most larger German chains and filling stations.[5] Mountain Dew has been a Pepsi-Cola brand since the purchase from the Tip Corporation in August 1964.[6] The barcode sits in a block of PepsiCo-system brands on Open Food Facts, among Pepsi, 7UP, Schwip Schwap, Lipton and Lay's packs.[7]

  • Label photographs: 0 / 1 · Researched contexts with an assigned photograph
  • German single-use can, photographed 2021: nutrient evidence: 16 / 16 · Recorded nutrient rows linked to a source; not the number of nutrients that ought to exist
