About this product
A three-disc Philips Classics set of Johannes Brahms's four symphonies played by The Philadelphia Orchestra under Riccardo Muti, issued in 2002 as catalogue number 470 942-2.[3] Alongside the symphonies it contains the Variations on a Theme by Haydn, the Academic Festival Overture and the Tragic Overture.[3] The set belongs to Universal's Trio 3 CDs series, which gathered Deutsche Grammophon, Decca and Philips recordings between 2002 and 2005.[4] The discs credit ℗ Universal International Music B.V. and © Deutsche Grammophon GmbH; European copies were pressed by Universal M & L in Germany, and US copies made in the USA carry the same barcode.[5][1] The Danish retailer iMusic lists the barcode with a release date of 3 May 2002.[2]
More about this product
The performances were recorded in Philadelphia between October 1988 and September 1989 and had already been collected on a three-disc Italian Philips edition in 1991.[6] The old Barcodepedia listed this barcode in 2007 as "Muti Riccardo – 4 Symphonies; Tragic Overtu", from upcdatabase.com.[7]
