About Universal Music Entertainment
Universal Music Entertainment GmbH is a holding company registered at the Amtsgericht Charlottenburg under HRB 86559 B, at Mühlenstraße 25, 10243 Berlin; its registered purpose is managing, acquiring and selling companies and holdings in the exploitation of copyrights, ancillary copyrights and publishing rights.[1] It belongs to Universal Music Group N.V., whose 2024 annual report names it with its register number among the German subsidiaries for which the group gave guarantees under section 264(3) of the German Commercial Code.[2] It is the shareholder of Deutsche Grammophon GmbH and entered into a control and profit-transfer agreement with it in December 2014.[3]
The company took its current name in 2006, having been Universal Entertainment GmbH, and absorbed EMI Recorded Music Services GmbH by merger in 2022; it files exempting consolidated accounts under § 291 of the German Commercial Code, as a subsidiary included in a parent's group accounts.[1]
