About PAI Partners
PAI Partners is a French private-equity firm with its head office at 23 rue de la Paix in Paris, investing in market-leading companies in Europe and North America out of flagship and mid-market buyout funds that have raised about 39 billion euro of capital.[1] No company stands above it: the firm has been owned by its partners since it became independent in a management buy-out in 2001,[1] and the global LEI register gives "no known person" as the reason it reports neither a direct nor an ultimate parent.[2][3] Its French company is registered in Paris under SIREN 443837331 and holds the LEI 969500XOAAVI9Y0USC54.[4][5] In August 2021 it agreed to buy Tropicana, Naked and other juice brands from PepsiCo and became the majority shareholder of the resulting joint venture, Tropicana Brands Group.[6]
The business began in 1872 inside the investment arm of the bank Paribas, under the name Paribas Affaires Industrielles; it raised its first third-party fund in 1998 and was spun out of BNP Paribas at the turn of the 2000s.[1][7] The funds are managed today by PAI SAS, registered at the same Paris address in October 2021 under SIREN 904479649 and approved by the Autorité des marchés financiers as an alternative investment fund manager on 2 January 2024 under number GP-20240001.[8][9] PAI has a long record in food and drink, holding stakes in Froneri and Ecotone, and said in 2021 that it managed around 15 billion euro of buyout funds and had completed 85 investments in 11 countries since 1994.[6]
An earlier company of the same name, SIREN 414946913, was registered in December 1997 and struck off on 7 November 2006; the live French entity is SIREN 443837331.[10][4] The French register spells that company PAI Partners Holding while the LEI record for the same number reads PAI Partners.[4][5]
