Bertelsmann UK Limited is the British holding company of Bertelsmann, the media, services and education group of Gütersloh in Germany.[1] It was incorporated in England on 12 April 1996 as Burginhall 890 Limited and took its present name on 17 November 1997; Companies House records it as active, registered under SIC 70100, activities of head offices, as company 03185285, with its registered office at One Fleet Place, London EC4M 7WS.[2] The Global LEI register carries it under LEI 529900QW5KKZKHOITM86, gives that London address as both its legal and its headquarters address, and names Bertelsmann SE & Co. KGaA in Gütersloh as its direct and its ultimate parent.[3][4]
Companies House records it as the sole active person with significant control of Penguin Random House Limited (00734421), holding 75 % or more of the shares and of the voting rights since 6 April 2016; Pearson PRH Holdings Limited (8561316) held more than 25 % on the same register until 5 October 2017, so the UK publishing chain runs from Penguin Books Limited through Penguin Random House Limited to this company.[5] Its own PSC register names no corporate controller, only Christoph Mohn, resident in Germany, as an individual with significant influence or control notified on 21 June 2021, in succession to Elisabeth Mohn, who was notified on 6 April 2016 and ceased on the same day in 2021.[6]
