Johannes Mohn GmbH is a holding company in Gütersloh that holds the majority of the capital shares in the media group Bertelsmann SE & Co. KGaA. It has been registered at the Local Court of Gütersloh as HRB 1084 since 27 January 1964, at Carl-Bertelsmann-Str. 270, and its registered object is the acquisition and management of interests in Bertelsmann AG, today Bertelsmann SE & Co. KGaA, and in Reinhard Mohn Verwaltungsgesellschaft mbH; Liz Mohn and Christoph Mohn are recorded as its managing directors and it absorbed Bertelsmann Beteiligungs GmbH in a merger registered in December 2017.[1] The statutes of the Bertelsmann Stiftung name it as the majority shareholder in terms of ownership of Bertelsmann SE & Co. KGaA and describe the foundation's assets as consisting mainly of its initial endowment and of the shares in this company.[2] Bertelsmann itself states that 80.9 percent of its capital shares are held indirectly by four foundations and 19.1 percent indirectly by the Mohn family.[3]
