About Saskia

Saskia is the natural mineral water sold under Lidl's own label, offered in Classic, Medium and Still sorts and in 1.5-litre and 0.5-litre bottles.^[1][2] The German waters are filled by MEG Weißenfels GmbH & Co. KG at five spring sites — Leißling, Löningen, Jessen, Kirkel and Wörth am Rhein — so the mineralisation varies between bottles and the spring is named on each label.^[2] All of them are described by the bottler as suitable for a low-sodium diet.^[2] Stiftung Warentest made Saskia Medium from the Jessen spring one of two winners of its July 2026 mineral-water test, at "sehr gut" (1.3) and 19 cents a litre.^[3]

Lidl makes no own-label goods itself: its sister company Schwarz Produktion produces them exclusively for the discounter, and Saskia is listed among Lidl's drinks labels beside Freeway.^[4] Lidl's own announcement credits the Schwarz Produktion beverage network with drawing and filling the Saskia waters in the regions, and states that the bottle bodies of the two tested waters are made entirely from recycled PET; the same test gave Saskia Medium from Wörth am Rhein "gut" (1.7), and Ökotest rated that water "sehr gut" in the same month.^[3] All five German springs stand in the European Commission's list of natural mineral waters recognised by the member states, published on 30 December 2024: Saskia at Wörth am Rhein, Saskia & K-Classic from the Quelle Jessen at Jessen (Elster) and from the Quelle Leissling at Leißling, Saskia Quelle from the Saskia Quelle Kirkel at Kirkel, and Saskia, K-Classic from the Quelle Löningen at Löningen — three of them shared with Kaufland's K-Classic water.^[5] Outside Germany, Lidl Luxembourg lists the brand as Saskia eau minérale naturelle in packs of twelve 50 cl bottles.^[6] The name reaches back at least to the first Barcodepedia, which catalogued a "Saskia Quelle" bottle under EAN-8 42143628 in February 2007.^[7]
