Kronenbourg
brand
About
Kronenbourg is the beer brand of Brasseries Kronenbourg, the Strasbourg brewery founded in 1664 by Geronimus Hatt and named after Cronenbourg, the district it moved to in 1850 to escape the flooding of the Ill.[1] The name replaced Tigre Bock after the Second World War, and the brewery's premium brand, and the one sold in the greatest volumes outside France, is the pale lager Kronenbourg 1664, first brewed in 1952.[1] The brand has passed with the brewery from BSN to Scottish and Newcastle in 2000 and to Carlsberg in April 2008.[1]
