About

Kronenbourg 1664 is the pale lager Brasseries Kronenbourg launched in 1952, named for the year Geronimus Hatt opened his brewery in Strasbourg and first sold in Britain in 1953 for the coronation of Elizabeth II.[1] It is brewed with Strisselspalt, an aroma hop native to Alsace that has been used in the beer since 1885 and gives it its citrus bitterness.[1] The lager is 5.5 % alcohol in continental Europe and has been sold in Britain at 4.6 % and at 5.0 %, on draught and in 275 ml and 660 ml bottles and 440 ml, 500 ml and 568 ml cans.[1]
