About Erato
Erato is a French classical record label founded in 1953 as Erato Disques S.A. by Philippe Loury to promote French classical music, with Michel Garcin as artistic director and producer.[1] RCA Records took a minority interest in 1972 and distributed the label; Discogs gives its label code as LC 0200.[1][2] Warner Music Group took over Erato in 1992, retired the label before 2003 and revived it in 2013 after acquiring EMI Classics and Virgin Classics, when it absorbed the Virgin Classics roster and catalogue.[1]
