Cinram

About

Cinram is a Canada-based manufacturer of pre-recorded media: vinyl records, audio cassettes, CD-Audio, CD-ROMs, VHS videocassettes and DVDs.^[1] Isidore Philosophe and Samuel Sokoloff founded it in Montréal on 28 July 1969 as Cinram Ltd./Cinram Ltée, a maker of eight-track cartridges; it expanded into cassettes in the early 1970s, and in 1979 opened a record pressing and tape duplication plant in Scarborough, Ontario, where it moved its head office.^[1] Its runout mark "MFG BY CINRAM" appears on the Canadian pressing of Léo Ferré's Avec le temps… (Barclay 841 919-2).^[2]
