About EMI Classics

EMI Classics was a classical record label founded by Thorn EMI in 1990 so that internationally distributed classical releases no longer needed country-specific packaging and catalogues; recordings formerly issued under EMI, Angel, His Master's Voice, Odeon and other names were brought under its red logo.[1] Universal Music Group bought EMI in 2012 and had to divest EMI Classics with the Parlophone Label Group, which Warner Music Group took over on 1 July 2013, absorbing the EMI Classics artist roster and catalogue into Warner Classics.[1]
