About this product
Cocio Classic is a Danish chocolate milk, and this 400 ml returnable glass bottle is its signature pack: milk, sugar and fat-reduced cocoa, with no additives.[1] The back label names Cocio Chokolademælk as the plant and carries the oval identification mark DK 4506 EC, with Arla Foods amba of Viby as the operator marketing it; Arla's own foodservice page repeats both.[3][1] Arla has owned the brand outright since 1 January 2008.[4][5] Three back labels read here show how the pack has moved: the 2019 bottle claims UTZ certified cocoa, the 2022 bottle carries Rainforest Alliance instead, and the 2025 bottle keeps that footnote but declares its nutrition per 100 ml where both earlier ones declared it per 100 g.[6][7][3]

Anker Pallesen founded Cocio in Esbjerg in 1951 after a trip to the United States gave him the idea, and the first plant filled about a thousand bottles a day; he sold the business to the Borden Food Corporation in 1976, though production stayed in Esbjerg.[5][4] A new factory in Esbjerg turns out roughly 400,000 bottles a day, which Arla dates to 2001 and Wikipedia to 2002.[4][5] Arla Foods took a half share in 2002 and the whole company with effect from 1 January 2008.[5][4] The Danish register lists Cocio Chokolademælk A/S at Øresundsvej 15 in Esbjerg N under CVR 35712011, and the Danish list of dairy plants approved under Regulation (EC) No 853/2004 gives that address control number 4506, the number in the oval on the bottle.[8][9]
