About this product
Poiana Negri Aprigă is the strongly sparkling version of Poiana Negri, a Romanian natural mineral water that Coca-Cola HBC sells in two versions, Aprigă and the more moderately carbonated Cumpătată.[2] The front label of this two-litre PET bottle reads "APRIGĂ — apă minerală naturală carbogazificată".[3] Romanian grocery services list the barcode as the two-litre Aprigă bottle, sold by the case of six.[4][5] The water is drawn at the Poiana Negri source and Coca-Cola HBC România is named as its producer,[6] one of whose three Romanian plants stands at Poiana Negrii.[7] Neither the ingredient list nor the nutrition declaration is required on a water label in the EU.[8][9]

Coca-Cola took the brand over in 2002, paying Jean Valvis 40 million euro for Dorna Apemin and with it the Dorna, Poiana Negri and Izvorul Alb waters.[10] A Larex analysis of the source dated 12 December 2003 gives 1490 mg/l dry residue at 180 °C, 1428 mg/l bicarbonate and 253 mg/l calcium.[6]
