About this product

Piano Transcriptions is a single-CD Decca album on which Vladimir Ashkenazy plays Sergei Rachmaninov's piano transcriptions of music by Bach, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Bizet, Mussorgsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Tchaikovsky and Kreisler, followed by Rachmaninov's own pieces for piano four and six hands.[2][3] Vovka Ashkenazy and Dódý Ashkenazy join him in the ensemble works, with trumpeter Alastair Mackie in the Italian Polka.[1] Decca Classics lists the album under this UPC with a release date of 1 August 2002.[2] One barcode covers two pressings: a US disc manufactured and marketed by Universal Classics Group, a division of UMG Recordings, Inc., and a German-made European disc from Decca Music Group Limited in London.[1][4]

More about this product

The recordings were made in December 2000 at Teldec Studios in Berlin and at Potton Hall in Suffolk, produced by Andrew Cornall.[1] A Japanese edition, UCCD-1068, carries its own barcode, and BMG Direct issued a club edition in the US.[5][6] The 2007 Barcodepedia page for this barcode described it as a CD titled "Ashkenazy Vladimir - Piano Transcriptions", taken from upcdatabase.com.[7]

Coverage measures the evidence recorded here. It does not rate the product.

  • Identity: 3 / 3 · Name, brand and classification recorded
  • Release details: 5 / 5 · Profile fields recorded: artists, label, media, released, catalogue_number. Missing fields may require research or an applicability note.
  • tracks evidence: 24 / 24 · Recorded rows linked to source evidence; does not measure whether the list is complete

  • Label photographs: 0 / 2 · Researched contexts with an assigned photograph
  • Specifications: 0 / 8 · Recorded specifications mapped to comparable property keys
  • relationships · unknown: No source names the GS1 registrant of prefix 0028947; the same barcode is on a US pressing (UMG Recordings, Inc.) and a German-made European pressing (Decca Music Group Limited), so gs1_prefix_owner is omitted
  • markets · not_researched: No retail listing printing this barcode could be read by the server (Amazon and eBay listings were refused); Decca Classics showed the CD format as currently unavailable on 2026-09-13, which is not proof of deletion, so status is left blank
  • media · disputed: Track durations differ by a few seconds between MusicBrainz and the Discogs US release (for example track 3: 1:41 against 1:34); Tracks keeps MusicBrainz timings and notes the Discogs figure
