Holtzbrinck Publishing Group is a privately held publishing group with its head office in Stuttgart, re-established in 1948 by Georg von Holtzbrinck and chaired today by Stefan von Holtzbrinck; it sits under the family holding company Georg von Holtzbrinck GmbH & Co. KG.[^wikihb] It reported sales of €1.99 billion for 2024, earnings before taxes of €293 million and 14,000 employees, with 29 per cent of sales in Germany and 53 per cent in North America.[^wikihb] The group works in four areas: science, through Springer Nature and Digital Science; consumer books, through Macmillan Publishers, Pan Macmillan and its German houses S. Fischer, Rowohlt and Kiepenheuer & Witsch; education, through Macmillan Learning; and news media, through the DIE ZEIT publishing group.[^wikihb]

Holtzbrinck brought its Nature Publishing Group, Palgrave Macmillan and Macmillan Education into the merger with Springer Science+Business Media that closed in May 2015 and created Springer Nature, taking the majority 53 per cent share to BC Partners' 47 per cent.[^wikisn] It is therefore the group at the top above Springer, whose page here names it as parent organisation.[^wikisn]
