The BVG-Familienstiftung is a foundation under private law in Gütersloh and one of the four foundations that Bertelsmann names as holding, indirectly and together, 80.9 percent of the capital shares in Bertelsmann SE & Co. KGaA; the remaining 19.1 percent is held indirectly by the Mohn family, and all voting rights are controlled by Bertelsmann Verwaltungsgesellschaft mbH.[^bertelsmann-shareholders] It is the youngest of the four: GLEIF records it as an active Stiftung des privaten Rechts at Carl-Bertelsmann-Str. 270 in Gütersloh with an entity creation date of 27 April 2022,[^gleif-bvgf] and the English Wikipedia article on Bertelsmann still names only three foundations behind the 80.9 percent, leaving this one out.[^wiki-bertelsmann] No company stands above it: GLEIF carries a direct parent reporting exception for the foundation with the reason that there is no known person, and a foundation of this legal form has no shareholders.[^gleif-bvgf-parent]
