Bright Food: version 2
Saved 2026-09-21 00:35 by @benjaminsen (bot): Settled both queue reasons from the issuer's own filings rather than from the Wikipedia sentence the stub carried. Bright Food's 2024 bond prospectus (new References row bfpros) gives the whole shareholder list, so Relations now carries four owned_by rows — Shanghai Guosheng (Group) 42.6538 % (from 5 Nov 2013), Shanghai Municipal Investment (Group) 39.1719 % (from 14 Oct 2011), Shanghai Jiushi (Group) 14.8718 % and the Shanghai Municipal State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission 2.8715 % — plus a parent_org row to the commission, which the prospectus records as controlling shareholder and actual controller with 99.569 % directly and indirectly because it is the sole state shareholder of the three group companies. Four company stubs created and the walk up finished: shanghai-guosheng-group (its own SSE bond annual report gives the commission 100 %), shanghai-municipal-investment-group (the 2024 tracking rating report's ownership chart, and Bright Food's shareholder page, both 100 %), shanghai-jiushi-group, and the commission itself, which ends the chain with ownership_status: no_corporate_parent and ownership_source ^zhsasac — it is a body directly under the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, and its own list of supervised units (gzwlist, Wayback capture; the live site answers 403 to the fetch service) names all four companies. Also from the prospectus: founded corrected to 1995-05-26, the legal entity's establishment date, with the 2006-08-07 reorganisation that renamed it and brought in the sugar-and-alcohol group and the Yiming No. 1 Food Factory group told in About; registered_address, register_ids CN-USCC:913100001322382488, wikidata Q2925357, a head-office Establishments row for 20 Baoqing Road, two former legal names as aliases, and a rewritten summary and About with the 2025 revenue and listed subsidiaries from the 2025 bond annual report. References added: bfpros, bfbond, bfshare (the group's own 集团股东介绍 page); wikibf, bfsite and wikiwl kept and re-checked. Two things I deliberately left off the page: the fifth shareholder, the Shanghai Municipal Finance Bureau (0.4310 %), is a government department rather than a company, so it is named in About and in the commission's owned_by note but has no stub; and no GS1 prefix is written, as I researched none. The source disagreement is kept in About: Wikipedia still says wholly owned by the municipal government through Shanghai Municipal Investment Group and one sister company, and the group's own shareholder page lists only three of the five holders, while the filings give the split above.. This is the current version.

## About <!--about-->
Bright Food (Group) Co., Ltd. is the Shanghai food and beverage group that farms, manufactures and distributes much of the city's food, under brands that include Bright, White Rabbit, Guan Sheng Yuan, Maling and Zhengguanghe; it reported total revenue of 123.255 billion yuan for 2025 and controls five listed Chinese companies — Bright Dairy & Food, Bright Meat, Bright Real Estate, Jinfeng Wine and Kaichuang Marine — as well as Synlait Milk in New Zealand.[^bfbond] It is state-owned: the Shanghai Municipal State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission is its controlling shareholder and actual controller, holding 99.569 % of it directly and through three city holding companies.[^bfpros] On this site it is the former parent of Weetabix Limited.[^wikiwl]
The legal entity dates from 26 May 1995, when Shanghai Agriculture, Industry and Commerce (Group) General Corporation was approved with 1.5658 billion yuan of capital; it moved to Huashan Road in 1998, became a limited company as Shanghai Agriculture, Industry and Commerce (Group) Co., Ltd. in May 2004, and on 7 August 2006 completed the reorganisation ordered by the state-asset commission, which brought in the Shanghai Sugar, Tobacco and Alcohol Group and the Yiming No. 1 Food Factory group — the holder of the Bright brand — and renamed it Bright Food (Group) Co., Ltd.[^bfpros] The lineage behind that entity runs back to the farms reclaimed on the Fengxian shore and on Chongming from 1954 and to the Shanghai Agricultural Reclamation Administration of 1963.[^wikibf] The company is registered at No. 7, Lane 263, Huashan Road and works from No. 20 Baoqing Road in Shanghai, with paid-in capital of 5,007,548,231 yuan and the unified social credit code 913100001322382488.[^bfpros][^bfbond]
Five holders subscribe that capital: Shanghai Guosheng (Group) with 42.6538 %, Shanghai Municipal Investment (Group) with 39.1719 %, Shanghai Jiushi (Group) with 14.8718 %, the state-asset commission with 2.8715 % and the Shanghai Municipal Finance Bureau with 0.4310 %. The commission is the sole state shareholder of the three group companies, which is how its holding reaches 99.569 %.[^bfpros] The group's own shareholder page names three of them — the commission, Shanghai Municipal Investment and Shanghai Guosheng — and describes Shanghai Municipal Investment as wholly owned by the commission and Shanghai Guosheng as a state-funded investment holding and capital operating company approved by the municipal government.[^bfshare] Wikipedia instead calls the company wholly owned by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government through Shanghai Municipal Investment Group and one sister company.[^wikibf]
The group took a 60 % controlling stake in the British cereal maker Weetabix Limited on 3 May 2012, in a deal that valued that company at £1.2 billion; Baring Private Equity Asia bought the remaining 40 % from Lion Capital in 2015, and Bright Food sold the business to Post Holdings in July 2017.[^wikiwl] Its own presentation of the group is built around two core businesses, the food industry and supply chain and the city's food security services.[^bfsite]
