Sony Interactive Entertainment America LLC was the PlayStation company for the Americas, and is the name Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC took on 31 March 2016, when Sony reorganised its games and network businesses as Sony Interactive Entertainment. United States patent assignment records carry that change of name with its effective date, and then the merger of Sony Interactive Entertainment America LLC into Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC with effect from 15 March 2018.[1] Sony Corporation's annual report on Form 20-F for the year to 31 March 2017 lists it, beside Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC, among the significant subsidiaries Sony owned directly or indirectly.[2] Wikipedia lists both companies at San Mateo, California, as the group's global and regional headquarters for the Americas, and dates the reorganisation to 1 April 2016.[3]
Its business passed in the 2018 merger to Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC of San Mateo, the PlayStation company Sony formed in April 2016 by combining Sony Computer Entertainment with Sony Network Entertainment International.[1][3]
