About Sire Records Group

Sire Records Group Inc. is the Delaware corporation behind the Sire record label, incorporated on 28 May 1997 and renamed London-Sire Records Inc. on 8 March 2000.[1] Sire releases name it as manufacturer and distributor: the United States CD edition of Aphex Twin's Come to Daddy EP prints "Manufactured and distributed by Sire Records Group Inc. A Warner Music Group Company."[2][3] At the end of 2002 it sat directly under Warner Communications Inc. in the Time Warner group,[4] and it has been part of Warner Music Group since that group bought Time Warner's music business on 1 March 2004.[5] Warner Music Group still lists it as a subsidiary.[6]

The corporation was formed in the year Sire left Elektra distribution to become a stand-alone label, and its new name followed the 2000 merger of Sire with the United States division of London Records into London-Sire Records; the label went back to the Sire Records name in April 2003.[7] The corporate name London-Sire Records Inc. stayed in use afterwards: in December 2004 it was one of the subsidiary guarantors registered with WMG Acquisition Corp.'s notes, with federal employer number 13-3954692,[5][8] and it is on Warner Music Group's subsidiary list for fiscal 2025.[6]
