The Paulaner Brauerei Gruppe GmbH & Co. KGaA is the holding company of a Munich brewing group and, with 6.34 million hectolitres brewed in 2023, Germany's third-largest brewer. It is owned by the Schörghuber Stiftung & Co. Holding KG (70 %) and the Dutch Heineken International B.V. (30 %).^[1] The group goes back to Schörghuber's purchase of the Hacker-Pschorr and Paulaner breweries in 1979; the brewing interests were bundled in the Bayerische Brau-Beteiligungs-Holding, renamed Bayerische BrauHolding AG in 1999, which entered the joint venture Brau Holding International with Heineken in 2001 and was renamed Brauholding International GmbH & Co. KGaA in 2005. Schörghuber announced in February 2017 that Brau Holding International would be merged into Paulaner Brauerei GmbH & Co. KG under the present name; the merger took effect on 4 July 2017.^[1] Subsidiaries include Paulaner, Hacker-Pschorr, Fürstliche Brauerei Thurn und Taxis, the Rosenheimer Spezialitätenbrauerei, Fürstlich Fürstenbergische Brauerei, Privatbrauerei Hoepfner and Privat-Brauerei Schmucker, and the group holds 63.8 % of Kulmbacher Brauerei.^[1][2] It is registered at the Munich local court under HRB 158981 and sits at Ohlmüllerstraße 42, 81541 München.^[3] Sources disagree on the joint venture's start: the group's own article dates it to 2001, the article on the Schörghuber group to 2002.^[1]
