About Intergum
Intergum is an Istanbul chewing gum maker, described by Turkish Wikipedia as one of the largest in Turkey and as the producer of the Falım and First brands.[1] Founded by Jak Amram, it began trading in 1972 as Dandy Sakız ve Şekerleme under a licence from the Danish company Dandy and took the Intergum name in 1989 when that technical cooperation ended.[1] Cadbury Schweppes bought the group in 2007 and brought it together with Kent Gıda, which makes the First and Falım gums today under Mondelēz International.[2][3]
The company opened a Russian office in 1994 and a North American one in 1996.[1] On 8 June 2007 Cadbury Schweppes, already the majority owner of Kent Gıda, announced that it had agreed to buy the Intergum group — Intergum Gıda Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., Falım Sakız Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. and Dandy Sakız ve Şekerleme A.Ş. — from the Amram family for 450 million dollars in cash and assumed debt, subject to Competition Board approval, putting the group's 2006 share of the Turkish gum market at 46 per cent and its revenue at 109 million dollars.[2] Cadbury passed to Kraft Foods in a global takeover in 2010, and in 2012 Kraft's snacks business was renamed Mondelēz International; Mondelēz's Kent Gıda history page records that Intergum and Kent were brought together under Kent Gıda, which continues under Mondelez International Holdings LLC.[3]
