About Del Monte Foods
Del Monte Foods was an American producer and distributor of branded and private-label processed food, headquartered in Walnut Creek, California, with a portfolio that included the Del Monte, S&W, Contadina, Joyba and Take Root brands.[1] It held the rights to the Del Monte brand in the United States and licensed the name to other companies around the world, which is the tie to brand/del-monte, where it is recorded as the former owner.[1] Its owner is Del Monte Pacific Limited, a British Virgin Islands company dual-listed on the Singapore Exchange and the Philippine Stock Exchange and 72 per cent owned by the Campos family's NutriAsia group, filed here as company/del-monte-pacific-limited.[1][2]
Del Monte Pacific Limited completed the purchase of the consumer food business on 19 February 2014 for about USD 1.675 billion; the pet food division stayed behind and was renamed Big Heart Pet Brands.[1] The company announced Chapter 11 proceedings on 1 July 2025, and on 19 March 2026 Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc. completed the purchase of select assets of Del Monte Foods Corporation II Inc. and its affiliates for about USD 285 million, taking global ownership of the brand; the canned and other ambient packaged fruit business and the College Inn and Kitchen Basics broth and stock brands were not part of that sale.[3] Under the same court-supervised process the packaged and shelf-stable fruit business went to Pacific Coast Producers and the broth and stock operations to B&G Foods, and in April 2026 the company shut its major California warehouses.[1] Its Legal Entity Identifier record gives it as a Delaware corporation, file number 5399472, registered care of The Corporation Trust Company at 1209 Orange Street in Wilmington; the same record, last updated in 2022 and now lapsed, still carries the 4 Embarcadero Center head office in San Francisco that the company used before the move to Walnut Creek in 2015.[4][1]
