Cinnabon, Inc. is an American chain of cinnamon-roll bakeries and kiosks, founded in 1985 by Rich Komen and Ray Lindstrom of Restaurants Unlimited, with a recipe developed by the Seattle baker Jerilyn Brusseau; the first store opened at SeaTac Mall on 4 December 1985.[1] It is headquartered in Sandy Springs, Georgia, and had more than 1,200 bakeries in 48 countries as of December 2017.[1] AFC Enterprises bought it in 1998 and sold it in 2004 to Focus Brands, now GoTo Foods, an affiliate of Roark Capital Group.[1] Beyond its own stores the name is licensed to packaged goods and restaurant partners, among them the Cinnabon cinnamon used in Pillsbury Grands! cinnamon rolls.[2]
