About Capitol Records
Capitol Records is the American record company behind the Capitol label, known legally as Capitol Records, Inc. until 2007 and as Capitol Records, LLC since.[1] Founded in 1942, it was bought by EMI in 1955 and became part of Universal Music Group when EMI's recorded music operations were sold in 2012.[1] Its CDs of the late 1990s name Capitol Records, Inc., 1750 N. Vine Street, Hollywood, as manufacturer and phonographic copyright holder.[2]
In 2007, after Terra Firma Capital Partners acquired EMI, Capitol absorbed EMI's other American branches and catalogues, including Virgin and Chrysalis in the United States, changed its registration from a public to a private company, and Capitol Music Group was created to manage the catalogue.[1]
