About BMG
BMG Rights Management GmbH, trading as BMG, is the music company of Bertelsmann, registered in Berlin under HRB 116072 B.[1] It works in music publishing, recordings and sync licensing, and Bertelsmann names it as part of the group, with a minority stake held by affiliates of Great Mountain Partners.[2] On 1 September 2026 BMG and Concord completed their combination; the combined company operates under the BMG name, with its global headquarters in Nashville and its European headquarters in Berlin.[3]
Bertelsmann relaunched BMG in October 2008 after selling its stake in Sony BMG to Sony; the investment firm KKR held 51% of the company from 2009 to 2013.[4]
