Associated British Foods

British multinational food processing and retailing group, headquartered in London, listed on the London Stock Exchange and a constituent of the FTSE 100. It was founded by the Canadian businessman W. Garfield Weston in 1935 as Food Investments Limited, renamed Allied Bakeries Limited a month later and Associated British Foods in 1960. Its ingredients division is the world's fourth-largest sugar producer and second-largest producer of baker's yeast; its grocery division carries Twinings alongside Ovaltine, Ryvita, Jordans, Kingsmill and Mazola, and its retail division is Primark.^[1] Twinings was acquired in 1964.^[2]
