About Arvato Digital Services USA

Arvato Digital Services LLC ran the Bertelsmann group's CD, DVD and CD-ROM glass-mastering and replication plant at Weaverville, North Carolina, from April 2008 until disc production there ended on 30 April 2016.[1][2] It was formed in April 2008 to take over the plant that had traded as Sonopress Arvato, USA until 31 March 2008, and it was the United States operation of arvato digital services, the media and supply-chain business of Bertelsmann's arvato division.[1][3] Discogs catalogues its output as Arvato Digital Services, USA from 3 April 2008 to late 2011 and as Arvato, USA from late 2011 to 30 April 2016, identifying the discs by the arvato logo with mastering SID codes IFPI L027, L028, LB41, LB48 and LY93 and mould codes IFPI 10xx.[1][2]

The Weaverville works opened in 1984 as an RCA tape-duplication facility, took the name Quality Tape Incorporated in 1985 and was bought that year with RCA/Ariola by Bertelsmann, after which it pressed discs as Sonopress USA and then, from July 2004, as Sonopress Arvato, USA.[1][4] The arvato digital services site of December 2010 put the business, alongside arvato print, arvato systems and arvato services, inside arvato AG, "the internationally networked media and communication service provider", and added that "arvato AG is a division of Bertelsmann AG, headquartered in Gütersloh, Germany"; the site's legal notice gives its German company as arvato digital services GmbH of Carl-Bertelsmann-Str. 161 F, Gütersloh, entered at the Local Court of Gütersloh as HR B 2034.[3][5] The LLC also held service contracts outside replication: it is the contractor named in the Intuit master service agreement of 28 May 2003, whose seventh amendment, filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission in November 2013, extended the term to 14 September 2015 and was signed for the company by senior vice-president Christian Huelsewig.[6] In January 2016 arvato Entertainment Inc. and CDA, Inc. agreed to transfer arvato's standard-definition CD and DVD replication and its packaging support for games customers to CDA's Charlotte facility; arvato discontinued replication in the United States and closed the Weaverville plant, while its other lines of business continued.[7][2]
