British chocolate and confectionery brand, founded as a York shop in 1767 and one of the city's confectionery triumvirate alongside Rowntree's and Cravens.[1] Its best known products, Terry's Chocolate Orange and the Terry's All Gold assortment, were both introduced in the 1930s at Terry's Chocolate Works.[1] The brand has changed hands repeatedly: Forte Group in 1963, Colgate-Palmolive in 1977, United Biscuits in 1982, Kraft Foods Inc. in 1993, Mondelez International in the 2012 Kraft split, Eurazeo's Carambar & Co in 2016 and, through that company, Ferrero SpA in 2025.[1] Kraft closed the York factory in 2005; Terry's branded products are now made at Carambar's Strasbourg facilities.[1]
