About Phonogenic Records
Phonogenic Records is a British record label, today under the RCA Label Group of Sony Music Entertainment, that was originally conceived under BMG UK & Ireland; its roster has included Natasha Bedingfield, Ross Copperman and The Script.[1] Discogs files the label under Sony Music Entertainment (UK) Ltd.[2] The imprint appears alongside BMG UK & Ireland on the 2004 UK and Irish CD of Bedingfield's debut album Unwritten, and signs its 2004 European CD with catalogue number 82876 63999 2.[3][4]
The label was set up in 2003 by Paul Lisberg, formerly of the A&R department of EMI Music Publishing, Tops Henderson, who came from artist management, and the songwriters Andrew Frampton and Steve Kipner, and its first signing was the then 21-year-old Natasha Bedingfield; The Script joined in 2005. In 2011 Phonogenic entered a five-year joint venture with Sony Music Entertainment, under which its management team also took charge of Sony Music UK's Epic label. Josh Krajcik, runner-up on the American X Factor in 2011, also signed with the label. Bedingfield left in 2017 for Linda Perry and Kerry Brown's We Are Hear label.[1]
